Early Planning need some help!!! Fujimi 1/12 Scale R32 Nismo

Hey guys, i've got some question or stuff to ask, please help =D

I juss ordered the 1/12 Big Scale Skyline GTR32 Nismo from HLJ. I been really psyched to order this model... I really only build GTRs... If you can recall I was the one who did the purple gtr not too long ago. But all the models give done, were really just practice... practice for this model that is comming up.

I was wondering, all the modelers out there, if you had a 1/12 size kit, what brushes would u use? Would you Air Brush or buy (how many cans) of spray paint?

If I want to paint the car gun metal, should I use white or gray primer? does it really matter?

Have anyone in this forum every built on of these models? I tried doing a search but I did not have any luck in looking out for it. And what do you think of the kit?

And lastly any advice for building this car? because it claims to be Cement free? so I have to use a screw driver and bolt everything on?

The internet is not a help because stupid fujimi cars and parts NEVER have anything on the internet about them... oh well that is why we got AF =D

Thanks in advance guys...

Well, I hope that this message is not going to leave you in a dull mood. I built the kit about 5 years ago (the Calsonic version, painted TS44 over white primer, using the spraycan from Tamiya, end result is very good) but I was rather disappointed about the content of the kit. It is very basic, and has relatively few parts, that indeed come together using screws, but you have to use cement and white glue for a number of parts as well. If you have access to good pictures of the interior and of the engine bay, there is a lot of room for superdetailing, i don't know if there are any upgrades kits available. At the time I built I did not search for any. I am not dissatisified with the result I got if you keep the car as a curbside kit, but with hindsight I found the price (12,800 yen) ridiculous. (5,000 would have been more appropriate). Anyway I wish you good luck in building the car, and if you consider buying the 1/24 fujimi R32's be prepared for narrowing the wheels, otherwise they won't fit within the arches.

thanks, nah that doesn't put me in a dull mood, juss prepares me for more stuff to look and plan for. Other than that, im glad you responded. I was thinking about buying the automotive car paint for thr gunmetal... have to find the car color code. Prolly gonna get real car primer too, juss to keep the contents the same. Yeah I was thinking about detailing the engine bay and then add some of this and that on the dash and flocking the ground with that fluff stuff.

I found it interesting, I finally ran a correct search, and it actually has a post from Hiroboy and his Veilside GTR, and the pictures of the parts... comming to think of it, besides the opening doors and and color clear parts... it looks like a BIGGG version of the skyline gtr R32 from tamiya... seriously it does...

Tamiya has a very good gun metal spray can I think it is TS39 or 40. It was issued for a in connection with a Tyrrell F1 model. I found it easy to work with. And yes you are right about the similarity with the Tamiya 1/24 kit.
Good luck and one of these days you will be able to show the results.

Thumbs up 1/12 Skyline

G'day skylinehks(cool name)
I have one in progress, could take some time as its not as detailed as I
had hoped. Was expecting something close to their(fujimi) enthusiust
series detail,............no such luck, but I still feel its a great kit.
Plenty of options for super-detailing
Will start a thread when I feel its worthy.......
I plan on using Tamiya cans,as I dont have an air-brush .
Good luck with yours, hope to see progress soon....

cheers stump:smoker2:

This japanese site has some pictures of the 1/24 R32, but not the NISMO one.

You mean 1/12...

But that one is a fine example of what a little extra scratchbuilding can produce...

Best of luck! Can't wait to see pics!!

Thanks for the ideas guys, it helps alot.

I ordered the kit just last night, with the choice of one week shipping 3-5 days, so I hope to get it starts soon, so look for a thread in the progress session in about two weeks or so.

Yeah i decided, im gonna go with automotive paint

either...
KH2 Gunmetal Grey
732 Black Pearl Metallic

I can't decided between what tho... but those are the paint codes and imma use that for this model.

For primer im gonna use gray, b/c its nutural color, if I use white, then it might come out a bit brighter... i donno if i want that for gunmetal to be a little lighter.

I used the Tamiya Gunmetal in my older R32 from tamiya, yeah its a lovely color, but it does not work well with automotive two part clear coat. So the paint im going to use for the body will all be automotive paint.

The interior i think im going to stay with the color call outs from the Tamiya kit along with my reference magazine about GTRs... hopefully I can get it right with the colors.

I saw the pictures from the link, thanks cph81, they are great, I will try to emulate that engine bay =D haha, I think every modeler got their own ideas about that super detailed engine that we can play with.

One note tho... the doors and hood are seperate, so should I paint them when I connect them on? or do them seperate? that is something I was thinking because then I would have to paint it in a same stroke manner? to match the body?

I thank you guys for all the imput

btw, jay and cph81, your models are absolutely lovely =D , I am a GTR fan and I just hope to do what cph81 can do, when I have time, towards this summer, when I complete all my GTRs from tamiya, I will post them. So far I got the colors from Nissan and so a Mightnight purple R33, a Gunmetal R32, and a Bayside Blue R34 is comming along! So with this big 1/12 scale GTR, I also got three small GTRs comming =D, hope to encase those soon =D
