Stefan belloff's 956 used @ Ring for all time rekord

so, was just looking at that strange box done by revell some years ago reboxing hasegawa's short 962.
The real 962 with such "racing" no tobacco sponsor results to me used only in Silverstone C group race, while the 956 short tail used by Belloff in 1986 had exactly the same decal cheme.

So...can be cool to make a short tail 956 using such decal sheet, this to have what in my opininon what is the most attractive version used at the Nordschleife:

am I wrong about the car/livery?

I built these Bellofs record car couple of years ago.
I take a Revell 956, a Speedline tail, selfmade Decals and a lot of putty.
For more give me an PM.

Re: Stefan belloff's 956 used @ Ring for all time rekord

u made a very nice model of it.
The only thing I probably will not use is what revell calls 956, cause is indeed the 962 from hasegawa, that is quite different (read shorter) in all the front area, as well as the rear extractor is not present, as u correctly did in your model.

This make me think is probably better to scrap a correct 956 by tamiya, and create the real shorter body part cutting the rear bonnet from haseg/rev. 962.

Rothmans livery is always so cool, also after so many years..

ahhh okok. It seems strange to me u indeed made a so nice model using the 962

Do u think the decals provided by revell are ok to complete it? seems all in place there...

Re: Stefan belloff's 956 used @ Ring for all time rekord

Hi,

I started the 1984 Porsche who was driven by Ayrton Senna. I used the cockpit from a tamiya Porsche 956(Newman) and the nose and rear deck from a 962C tamiya. The only problem is that the nose is to short from the 962C and need some modifications. Personaly after these modifications you can come close to the real thing. For the moment this build is on hold, but will continue it when i have some more experience. I also bought a transkit from studio27, so i can make the correct Senna 956. This build is going to be used to make a 1984 Jacky Ickx car that drove on the Nurburgring. Here you have some progress of my WIP: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1075591

If you need questions, feel free to ask them.

Best regards,
Lesley

Re: Stefan belloff's 956 used @ Ring for all time rekord

but in 1984 senna was driving a 956 or a 962?
I found this pic of the his new man 956

that seems a short tail 956.

tamiya 962 is really disappointing, it was from the slot serie boxes, and the glued trasparents are the main problem.Maybe good only just as donor kit (tyres, parts of body as the rear spoiler..)

Re: Stefan belloff's 956 used @ Ring for all time rekord

In 1984 there were no 962s ( yet ), so the car was a 956 short tail.
You should take the Tamiya 956 and mate it with the rear deck of the Tamiya 962. The rear wheels of the 956 should stay i think but the diffusor will need modifying for the short tail version.

The Tamiya 962 has its shortcomings but so does the Revell/Hasegawa. To get a proper one you can cross them ( serious cutting necessary :-)
