Smile And finally....completed projects

Its been about 5 years since I've completed a model thanks to my family growing and subsequently requiring my extra time. Well my 5 & 8 year old wanted to complete models so it served as the perfect excuse to set up my work space again in the interest of quality time.

Competed project #1. A snap tite Ferrari. I held my 5-yr olds hand while he spray painted. I did all the sticker placing, masking and cutting. He of course did the heavy duty construction of snapping pieces in by himself. ;-)

I hope I've planted some seeds of love for modeling here. Obviously a simple build. Quite fun though.

Completed project #2. A Revell Pontiac GTO. Another "partnered build". My 8-yr old planned the build, designed, did most of the gluing, wired the alternator and sprayed the fist few coats. I did the masking, BM foil and most of the cutting. The custom work he requested (nos tank, upholstery decals, wheel mods) was also done for him. I really wanted him to get an idea of what can be accomplished with patience and practice. Next time he'll be on his own. :-)

Project #3. The model that almost ruined modeling for me. A vintage amt corvette "night stalker" that fit so poorly and came with damaged pieces. I had to make the following pieces from scratch; windshield, hood, rear glass and steering wheel. A pain in my ass. I'm just glad it's done.

I'm more embarrassed than I am proud. Like repeating the 8th grade. Happy it's over

Re: And finally....completed projects

Oh how I wish my son would have enjoyed modelling as much as I do. Maybe it's because I never finish anything or because I am so particular when it comes to details. I probably scared him off.

Your kids did a fantastic job on both of theirs. Even though you may not be happy with that vette, I know the kit and the fact that you finished it is an accomplishment in its own right and it came out nice looking too.

Great job on all three and welcome back to the hobby! Similar story with me - laid off the hobby when the family came along and then spurred on by the kids to start up again. Built a snaptite kit with my 6 year old as well - it was good fun!

Congrats to Your kids for a job well done! The Enzo looks really good and I really like the Goat Poncho! I couldn't do any better myself! I'll have to wait a few Years before I can take my two sons in to building kits, but they are all ready very interested in my builds - obviously XD
