01 3.8 harmonic knock sensor removal

hi i like to know is the sensor right at the end of the starter the knock sensor when u laying on ground and its the one straight up? and is on one wire?

and the other knock sensor where is that exactly? do you have to lower engine or something?

and whats the purpose of 2 knock sensors backup?

ya i know that i just wanted to know if the sensor is the one right at the end of the starter and wehre the other one is? and why do you need 2 knock sensors?

Piston noises can occur on both banks. Yes that should be it.

ok thank you and do you know why this engine has 2? i remember my 91 z34 only has one and a bad spot in beween transmision and oil pan

is the 2nd one for backup if the first fails?

I guess I am not making myself clear, there are 2 banks in this engine thus a set of pistons on each bank most or all obd11 engine have one sensor or 2 under the intake, or one on each side of the block to detect detonation/ engine rattling on either side of the engine.

ya i knew you said it has 2 and i was asking why comparing it to the luminas engine where its magnetic and if it breaks it falls in teh engine but only has 1 i was just curious why it uses 2 as opposed to one,

least this one here it unscrews where other one is a bolt and u gotta drop the engine to replace the knock sensor
