chevy uplander, RKE

I own an 2005 uplander ls conversion van, "am handicapped." Over the years I've worn out the sliding door button on the remote. After talking to my dealer and recovering from sticker shock, "$250.00+" for a new set , I did a little research.

The circuit board is fine, works perfectly. the problem resides with the rubber insert that contains the button that shorts the circuit board to complete the circuit and opens the door. Does anyone know if it is possible to order just this part. TIA

"$250.00+" for a new set

For one or two transmitters? Depending on whether you have remote start, they cost 60-80 bucks online.....100-135 list.....

At our shop, if you were our customer, we would program for free....

So you are saying you bought a new remote and the door still doesn't work from time to time?

Did you bring this into a GM shop, and they recommended a new remote?

Did they test the old remote first?

Usually when the door doesn't work, and the remote is ok, the fix is usually one of two things......the door has to be "reinitialized" or the contacts in the sliding door are bad.....

Just take some steel wool and clean all the contacts in the "B" pillar......then clean the retracting contacts in the sliding door with steel wool.....one other thing to check, is to pull the whole unit(sliding contacts) out of the door and check the wire connnections to it....might find the connections corroded.....clean as best as possible...otherwise you can order a new unit at any GM dealer parts dept.

OK, I'll rephrase my msg. THe problem is with the RKE transmitter. I need to find who makes them as I need the rubber insert that has the button on it that make contact with the actual circuit board. if need be I will attach a photo

I have never seen parts for a transmitter, you have to get a new one.....

Online, 60 without remote start, 80 with....but then it has to be programmed by dealer....

Look on ebay. I've purchased cases and bottons and transferred circuit boards around. Also, if there is an IC on your circuit board, look at the pin connections of it to the circuit board to make sure the solder is not cracked. When the FOB starts to get unresponsive, the first reaction is to press the buttons harder. This just makes matters worse because it flexes the circuit board.

If you are going to order one from Ebay, you better make sure the number on the back of the fob is the SAME as the one you order....or it won't work, even if they look the same.....
