1982 Monte Carlo 267 engine

I am trying to get this car street ready and need some help. The engine has a 2 bbl carb and a 3 inch throat on the carb. Question - can I fit a modern air cleaner on it? Any suggestions?

What do you mean by " a modern air cleaner " ? Are you talking about a chrome dress up type of air cleaner or ....what ? If you want a stock type air cleaner , you'll likely have to go to a salvage yard and see if they have or can get you one ? Ebay is another good option for a stock one though likely not cheap ?

Thanks for your response! You are right. I meant a "dressed up" chrome air cleaner. I was wondering if I can buy one with a 3 inch neck that would accept the vacuum hose from the intake.

The first place I would check is www.opgi.com ! They have many Monte Carlo parts , not sure about the entire air cleaner assembly though ? I know they do have replacement air cleaner tops in chrome so that might be a possibility ? If not , do a Google search for " 1982 Monte Carlo 2 barrel carburetor chrome air cleaners " and see what links come up ? The above mentioned website also offers a free catalog for your year and model MC , just have to fill out the order form . Good luck !

Thanks for all of your responses. I have another question. Can anyone identify what this part is and where it connects? its from that same 267 CI engine on the 1982 Monte Carlo.

Which part are you referring to ? The black hose or the loose wire ? My guess is the wire likely goes to your engine temperature sender - may be wrong ? The hose appears to be a hose coming from the pcv valve - again , may be wrong ?

Sir, you are all on it! Yes, the wire. It is just hanging on the intake manifold and I was wondering where it hooked up into. I am trying to get the 267 running so I can try and make it an everyday driver. As for the hose, it seems to have vacuum.
