02 grand prix half hot half cold

i have an 02 grand prix se withregular controls(1 knob in center to that you turn to go from hot to cold) i turn on a/c and drivers sides cold while pass side gets real hot like heats on???help

Get vehicle to normal operating temp......turn mode knob to vent(A/C is off)......now rurn temp knob to full hot....thermometer should read 145-155F on both sides......now turn to full cold....both sides should read 5-10 degrees higher than ambient.....so if 60 degrees outside should read about 65-70F.....

If this is what you read in vent, with A/C off, you are low on freon....

If the right side is much hotter than the left, it's puzzling, because I don't think this setup had dual temp doors/actuators....
