1999 Oldsmobile Bravada Ignition Problems

I have a 1999 oldsmobile bravada. I need help desperately. When i turn the truck off and put it into park the key does not return to the original start position it stays locked in the ignition and does not allow me to remove the key. I have made sure the truck was in park and everything else. I can restart the truck and drive down the road like there is nothing wrong... but when i shut it off put it in park and try to remove the key it does not allow me to. if any one has any clue on why this maybe let me know. thank you

You might try wiggling the key with any key ring removed. I'd try a vertical wiggle then some wiggles with the switch not quite in the Off & ACC positions.

Had this on a dodge ram. Shift wasn't going completely into park. Not sure on yours, mine had an adjustment under the truck near the tranny. Mine was described in Haynes repair manual.

it is either that your ignition switch is off a tooth or you need a new key tumbler.
Either way it is your key tumbler or ignition switch.

Re: 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada Ignition Problems

Does this have a shifter on the floor?.....could be a problem with the harness to the BTSI solenoid.....not sure on Bravada's, but cars have a lock solenoid in the steering colum....if there is a harness problem, that lock solenoid does not get energized, when you put the vehicle in park, and you can't remove the key.....usually, under the column, in the area of the key, there is a plastic cover that can be removed(or just an opening), and you stick a small screwdriver upward onto a plunger....with the plunger depressed, then the key rotates all the way to be removed(should state this in the owner's manual, if you have it)....
