Fuel Problems... ugh!

Ok so here's the deal (Car info in sig) my Spec has just had a brand new QR25 motor put in by Nissan! Yay! Right? Wrong...

The issue I'm having is that under heavy load and at high rpms my car is stumbling and backfiring almost like hitting the rev limiter, except at around 4k rpms. However, if I dump some octane booster or fuel system cleaner in, away she goes with just a small pop near redline. So I fill up the tank without an additive and the problem comes back. How does the additive make that much of a difference? I am completely at a loss, any help guys?
