2000 cavalier lose horsepower at +-40MPH

Hello,
My name is Maikel, i'm new to the forum. Read a lot here already, but can't seem to find a solution for the problem i have with my car.

I've got a Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L A/M from year 2000. Last week is was driving about 60-MPH and then suddenly my car lost horsepower. When i now turn my key, my car will start with no problem. Then when i start driving i don't feel any problems, but when i reach about 40-MPH it start holding in and it will lose it's horsepower. It won't go any faster and start shocking. Like it wants to go faster, but it can't. First we thought it was the catalysator, that it gave to much back-pressure, but after removing the catalysator, nothing changed. Then we thought it was the fuel-pump, checked it with an electrical meter, didn't seem to have any problems. I also have a knocking sound in my engine, my mechanic says it's the crankshaft that's not 100%. Now my question is, where to look?
Is the problem regarded to the fuel injection? So maybe a blocked filter or dirty injector. Or is it something in my engine itself. So can the crankshaft be the problem or could it be the piston or cilinder that's not working properly. We can't seem to find the problem and it's odd it only happens after about 40-MPH and not when driving slow. Also driving uphill give problems.

Check your fuel presssure with a fuel pressure gauge. Attach to windshield wiper or such and monitor while driving. Post pressure reading.
