74 AMX Oil filter splits open need fix
I have a 74 Javelin AMX. It has not run since 87. changed the oil put a new filter in. Got it to run and the oil filter splits at the seam under pressure. Need help.

Oil pressure relief valve is probably rusted shut. It's an easy fix to free up providing you can get to it. Usually its part of the oil pump assembly inside the oil pan.

the oil pressure relief is just obove the filter assembly on the pump asaembly it a large nut spin the nut out pull the spring and little valve out of there clean it and put it back toghther

It sounds like the oil filter might be faulty or there could be too much pressure. Try replacing the filter with a high-quality one and check the oil pressure, as it could be too high. If the issue persists, a mechanic might need to inspect the oil pump or system.
