95 manual trans sensor wiring dilemna

I have a 95 escort that i am fixing up. it has a 1.9 in it and is a 5spd manual. amidst the engine swap i had to do on it the wires for one of the sensors got ripped out of the pigtail. the sensor looks like a fatter/shorter version of an o2 sensor, has four wires coming out of it and is located on the side of the trans directly pointing at the radiator.

my question is this, what does it do and does anyone have a wiring schematic for it. i check Haynes manual and that was a no go. i have Mitchell and all-data but they do not show a wiring diagram for the manual transmission.
