power steering hose ??
blew a power steering hose I think it's the return line it's the one with the foil heat shield. The fluids comming out from the end of the foil cover.
Heres what I need to know: 1) Which line is it on the steering column the front or the back connection? 2) Does anyone know what tool I'll need to loosen the nut It's pretty rusted so I was thinking about cutting the line near the nut and using a socket to get it off, then a crowsfoot wrench to put the new one on. Unless someone knows an easier way to get it off. It's a pretty tight spot. any help with this is appreciated. thanks |

Re: power steering hose ??
Pretty sure it's the lower hose on the steering gear, follow the hose to make sure. Its a 18mm fitting at the gear. It helps some to drop the back of the cradle down for more room. A wrech and/or a crow foot will be needed.

Re: power steering hose ??
Sorry I didn't post back sooner.
Well I got it fixed ended up replacing both since I was under there. What a pain it was until I bought one of these from Harbour Freight. www.harborfreight.com/14-and-38-drive-x-14-38-double-head-flex-ratchet-wrench-67994.html The Craftsman wrenches would only turn the nut about 1/16" and the ratchet with a crowfoot wrench was to thick to fit. That low profile flex head ratchet with a crowfoot wrench was the ticket. I was done in no time with it. One of the best investments I've made, just need to get a better brand, but it worked. I would suggest anyone changing one of these hoses to get one of the ratchets. Just made the job so much easier. |
