1999 nissan maxima

i have a 1999 maxima with like 270,000 but i cant seem to figure out why i cant put more then a HAlf tank of gas. it is not leaking from any of the hoses , i am thinking that it may be from the gas tank itself.

The fill tube into tank attachment is rather low. Air has to escape when fluid level rises. For that, there are breather tube(s) ... which may be blocked, replace. You may have first to drop the tank (try replacing first the small tube attaching up in the fill hose - take off rear wheel, plastic cover, scrape all mud off etc)...
