Re: Tamiya Nissan 350z Version Nismo

Hey guys, thanx for the comments

A quick update: Started polishing the roof!

Just a close shot of reflection of lightbulb on the hood showing how bad the orange peel is:

Took the shots at night so not much reflection can be seen.
After lightly wetsanding with 3600 and polishing with tamiya coarse, fine and finish:

There is still some dullness in the corners but im afraid ill polish through the clearcoat if i try to remove that

Thats all for now. Thanx for looking!

wow, now that's shiny. 3600 was your only grit for wetsanding? how long did it take you?

Yea only 3600, took about 15 minutes, i just sanded very lightly until i could see that the surface was dull but smooth

i'm gonna go for smoked lights (both front and rear) and a medium gray panel line wash

Re: Tamiya Nissan 350z Version Nismo

Very nice! I spent 30 hours wet sanding & polishing my Countach! I like the smoked lights very much. Not sure about panels lines. I'd say a slightly darker shade of orange

Re: Tamiya Nissan 350z Version Nismo

Hey guys, thanx for all the comments, sorry I took so long but I was quite busy at university. Ok so I used brown for the panel lines, I think it turned out alright, but I should have deepened the panel lines but I don't have a tool for that

Ok, so here is the front, I only smoked the bottom half of the headlights, otherwise the indicators would disappear in the smoke

And the rear (the paint kept bleeding through when doing the window frames even though I used a toothpick so flatten it down, I read that you must paint clear beforehand, will try that next time)

And undercarriage:

I don't know if the exhaust looks right though:

I know it's curbside and everything, but that exhaust pipe looks ridiculous from the side

Anyway feel free to add suggestions and thanx for looking, will try to update more regularly
