Mr2/Celica?camry engine question

I'm looking at the 5s engine, and the 3s engine. I would prefer to have the 5s for the larger bore... 2.2L vs 2.0L

My purpose is to put this in a sand rail/dune buggy.

the 5s, from what ive read, is also in the celicas from the early 90's..

okay nevermind, direct question. could i take an engine from a celica(or in the 3s example, a camry) and bolt it up to an mr2 transaxle so i can mount it in the rear? is there a difference between an engine being in a forward mounted car and then the same engine being mounted in the rear/mid position?

Thanks
