Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

Hi guys!

I'm currently building the Hobby Design HD03-0004 Mercedes SLR 722GT kit.
I'm having some trouble assembling the roll-cage.

Does anyone has some reference pictures of the car? There are some on the www, but only very few are from the interior.
In case someone has alreay made it, do you have pictures of the roll-cage in the interior?

The Hobby Design instruction sheet has only a small picture of the roll-cage, but none of how to install in the cockpit...

Thanks!

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

I have this transkit and by coincidence I was looking it yesterday. I have some photos at home. As I'm at work right now, when I go back to home, I'll check it and give you a feedback here.

Please, open a thread to allow us to follow this building! I'll appreciate that.

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

The same to me.
I just give up with the roll cage and do it by my own way - not exactly correct but visible parts seems to be accepted.
If somebody is interested see my VIP here:http://www.pwm.org.pl/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=18796

The next big problem for me are wheels - the HD are to throw away. I have to figure something else but have no idea for now.

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

I've got this trans kit in my to do pile . It was interesting looking at your photos as my kit is moulded in shades of grey resin. My wheels look different to yours and are perfectly moulded and useable.

The only issue I have is my bonnet has the inevitable Hobby Design resin warp. Something I have encountered from them before

The bonnet is a large flimsy piece of resin and I'm going to modify the Tamiya part to suit as I don't trust the resin part to keep its shape even if I could straighten it or get it replaced.

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

Thanks guys!

@ Mikezibit: I had found most of those pictures too, unfortunatly only one picture of the cockpit, which doesn't show much of the roll-cage and rear interior.

@ Portalus: I think I'm going to use your pictures as guideline to make the roll-cage. Nice progress on your 722GT! Indeed, wheels are a big problem.

@ RonCla: The bonnet in my kit is also wrapped, but not as much as yours, so hopefully I can use this one.

I have mailed HD, but I no response so far...

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

the bonnet can be remoulded with an hair drier.is quite easy also.
I have the same rims above (with deep channel).Mines are 3 deep and one short.LOL,but at least I can cut one of the correct measure. Will be so useful if they add also 4 slick tires inside the kit, also cause slr gt ones are wider than box pattern ones.

Here are my pics of the cockpit. Not complete but maybe they help

Re: Hobby Design Mercedes SLR 722GT: roll-cage

Photos of the interior showing the roll cage are few and far between.
This is the only one I've found that gives some view of it
