Radio Swap
I'm very much a plug-and-play type person so I was wondering; I have an '05 2500HD, and the radio I have is the stock Delphi single disc CD/tape deck. Well, everything works fine, but half the lights on the radio buttons are out and I wanted to get a new one. If I was to get an OEM Delphi, but upgrade to the six-disk changer, will it swap right out with the old one?

why use cd's ? with MP3 / usb players you have no cd's to mess around with. go to cruchfield and look at there offerings. get a catalog sent. then call them and ask questions. I found them very helpful. not the cheapest but the best for support. as long as the oem radio system is not part of the vehicle operating system this can be replaced with aftermarket . If you go with a GM unit . this is expensive. and because most dealerships lack the ability to program it , the successful install of some other GM protected unit, is very slim. do not purchase any GM radio unit on the internet. many have been surpised at how the GM radio is locked. they lost their money. |

Re: Radio Swap
I'm probably borderline OCD, thats why I would have gone with an OEM radio, just so it "looked" right. lol! Plus, I'm not really up on technology; I have an MP3 player, but its only has about 30 songs it it. I still like my CD's. A little strange for how young I am too. But, I'll check out Crutchfield and see what they have. Thanks.

I have nero 6 enterprise edition in my computer. I make MP3 out of the cd's. also using wave editor you can tweek the tone for your liking. then load these onto your usb or other mp3 player storage device. nero 6 is my choice. the later versions are not recommended. then there is itunes software which can make mp3 out of the cd's. with this all done you can share with other people your/their mp3's. not on line but your friends etc. I have many gb of mp3 songs. wife has 20 gb IPOD . cd player your looking/thinking about is old stuff. most likely broken. those multi cd players always caused problems. the single player is more reliable. crutchfield will give you many ways to play your music and when you sell this vehicle take the radio/player with you for the newer vehicle. I forgot to mention always use the backup cd for playing. only use the original for making back up. |
