Flashing OD light

Has anyone found a reason why the OD light flashes, and how to fix it with out spending an arm and a leg?

Rushing, sorry forgot details. Light flashing on a 99 ford Explorer.

Re: flashing OD light

In mine, which is an 02 which was the new style for the 4 door, i needed a new transmission. 1700 bucks for a rebuild. Get the code read at a trustworth transmission place. I found most general mechanics didn't read those codes and the dealer sent their transmission out to a local shop anyway.

Re: flashing OD light

YES CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL.

Truck need to be warm ran through all gears and on flat surface check level. If low find out why it is low don't just refill.

You will kill this tranny if you drive it like that.,

Find yourself a reliable transmission shop. Good luck finding the tranny dipstick... there is none.
