1977 Tyrrell P34 Monaco GP 1/20

After completing the McLaren M8a and M23 I decided it was time to keep the building trend going.

I picked up another couple of kits off Hobbylink Japan www.hlj.com and have began work on my next project - Tyrrell's P34 six-wheeler.

This will be a relatively out of the box build, again with a small amount of engine wiring at there is no cowling present on the P34 so the engine is permanently on display. So far have assembled the block, and done the first stage of tyre lettering on the massive rear slicks. More photos to come soon.

Feedback is welcomed as always.

A little progress. The engine and transmission have been continued. With the older F1 kits the time consuming part is usually in the back end.

Exhaust pipes have been completed and things are drying at the moment so will be able to continue once everything has cured up a bit.

A little more progress has been made. Now that the engine has been completed the fun parts begin. Front suspension is next on the list and then after that the monocoque of the P34.

Everything has gone together very well, despite being an older tooling from the 70's re-released the fit is great. This particular car is iconic too so it's great to have it released in 1/20 as well as the larger 1/12 scale!

Looks like you're off to a good start.
I have one of those in my collection, and have 2 of the all blue version in my stash of cars to build....

Update time. The front portion of the tub has been attached to the engine and transmission as well as the body being shot in TS-15 blue. Front suspension has been assembled for the 4 front wheels also.

Things went together nicely and everything linked up well. Body is attached to the tub via tape only although the fitment of major parts is good, which we all expect from Tamiya kitsets.

Comments welcome as always.

With the paint now cured, it is time to put some livery on this Tyrrell. I have the cockpit to complete after decals. Cockpit will consist of basic wiring and a basic belt set. White cowling pieces are fitting like a dream. I was worried about slight fitment issues like with the M23 McLaren although those issues are non-existent.

A few photos before setting forward.

Progress! It looks like a F1 car now. I went with #3 livery of Swede Ronnie Peterson.

Moving onto the finishing stages now. Here is a little teaser of the car with some markings.
