2004 Sunfire wont shift into gear
Hello,
My daughter has a Sunfire that starts, but you can not shift into gear. The shifter will move but not engage the transmission. Where do I start looking to figure out whats wrong. She drove the car yesterday with no issue. Help |

Re: 2004 Sunfire wont shift into gear
Lift the hood......have someone move shifter....watch the shifter cable where it attaches to the lever on the tranny......does it move?

Thanks for the reply...It appears the cable is disconnected from the tranny. Just has the black ball at the end

Re: 2004 Sunfire wont shift into gear
Just position the end of the cable over the ball of the lever.....then using a pair of pliers, squeeze and pop it back on.......if the end that pops on the ball is broken, the whole cable has to be replaced....

Re: 2004 Sunfire wont shift into gear
Will have to replace the cable, the bushings gone. Was able to put the cable on, put a rubber band to hold it so I could at least move the car. More money spent when a cheap little part fails! Appreciate your help!
