Is this car purchase worth it?

Hi,

I have a 2000 Mercury Sable wagon that is starting to have problems here and there (broken coil, automatic headlights don't work, waiting on $500 rear sway bar replacement, etc). Also the interior leather has fallen off three of the door panels in the car and just looks ugly. No amount of gorilla glue seems to be able to put them back.

Anyway do you think this would be a worthwhile upgrade?

2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium Wagon with 95000 miles upgraded to

2005 Hyundai XG350L with 60000 miles on it.

The nice part is the XG350 has heated seats and a moon roof which my Sable does not. I just don't want to go down a similar repair path with a new car.

Anyone have experience with the XG350? Its reliability rating seem high.

I'm afraid I know nothing about the Hyundai model you posted about, but I can say that Hyundai reliability has improved greatly since the 1990s. Other than that, I truly don't know anything about your specific model. Sorry!

Keep us posted on what you decide!

Re: Is this car purchase worth it?

I just wanted to update - I pulled the trigger on the XG350L and I couldn't be happier! This car is amazing - it looks and feels brand new at 60k miles! Monthly payments are well under $200 and the car drives like a dream (smoooth auto shifting, much better acceleration than my Sable had, very quiet interior). Plus I now have heated seats and a sunroof . Suspention does an amazing job of absorbing bumps in the road making for a very comfortable ride. The interior seems to be of high quality which makes me happy since all of the leather door panels were peeling off in my Sable. Also there is a ton of room inside. You could probably fit 5 pretty comfortably.

I showed it to a friend and he started digging into me for buying such an expensive car until I told him the actual price.

Re: Is this car purchase worth it?

That's wonderful to hear! Thanks for coming back and reporting your findings!

Have you found your way over to the Hyundai forums yet to read up on what others have to say about your car?
