Unhappy is this warranty really worth it??

hello. first post ever. i have a '99 civic ex coupe. i just bought it two months ago, with 32,000 miles. it came with a limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. as you know, 4,000 miles go really quick. so, i purchased another warranty:

complete door to door for mechanical breakdowns. includes: engine (including the timing belt), front, rear, and 4wd axles, transmission, chassis, fuel system, computer and electronics, fluids and oils, a/c, heat, cooling, the whole nine yards.

it was 1,200 dollars, and lasts either seven years, or 100,000 miles.

my question is: what are the chances any of this stuff is going to break down in the first 100,000 miles?

i have heard of honda's lasting 300,000 + miles... does anyone have any problems within the first 100,000? is this warranty really worth it? (there is still time for me to cancel.)

peace.

I have the same warranty. They will tell you it is alright to modify the car and it won't void your warranty. It will. My synchros went out in third gear and they told me to go fuck myself. All because there was an intake on there. So now that I just spun some bearings and tore the block all to hell, I wish I would have saved the $1200 and put it aside for the new motor. So, if you are not modding it at all, then it is worth it.

i think that warranty is the same one i got. the platinium. anyway..........supposedly i was covered the same way, but 3 months after i bought my car, my a/c didn't work. i didn't take it to the dealer to fix it because it wasn't really warm out last year. so i go to take it a month ago to get it fixed and "it is not under warranty" i will never buy a warranty again for anything i ever purchase.

good luck with the warranty

thanks for the tips guys... i'm still not sure what to do though. not sure what mods i want to do to the car, if i can even afford them... but anyway, thanks again.

i guess my main question is: do unmodified honda's tend to start to break down before 100,000 miles, even if you take care of them?

if you know, let me know...

peace

If your gettin a civic with a D-series engine then don't get the warranty.
THat 1200 can be put to better use.
A d-seires engine goes for no more than 500.
So if anything happens you can just get another one. HEhe
