Cam Phaser HELP!!

I've got an 2008 F150 with a 5.4L Flexfuel and the cam phaser on the driver's side was failing causing all cylinders on the left bank to lay out at idle. No service engine light, just misfires on the left bank.

When fed a little gas, engine would even out and run smoothly and when at road speed, ran flawlessly. Sometimes at idle the left bank would again, lay out, not all the time though. Clogged screen was mentioned, so serviced the truck with premium synthetic oil, hoping that that might help? Nope, same problem (suprise)

I decided that I would have to change out the phaser, so when we tore into it, we found that someone had been into that side before and had already changed out the phaser, as well as the sensor. We went ahead and changed the phaser out again since we were already there, and who knows the new phaser may be bad....

Put the truck back together, ran fine........for a while, same problem. Truck sat for a week or so. Found out that there is a screen in the block that could be clogged due to lack of service. (previous owner) Decided to put in some engine cleaner and run it for a while to see if it might magically clean up the screen, took the truck for a drive and it would barely even pull itself.

Okay, now thinking about pulling the left bank head to access the screen and clean it out. Was told that that may not even help the problem. So..........I'm thinking of CHANGING THE ENGINE all because of some f..king cam phasers.

I was told of CompCams Cam Phaser Limiter Kit. Anyone know if this would help me out without spending the kids inheritance??

I'm thinking this would eliminate the phasers and basically make the cam drive conventional. I know these are intended for racing and running higher lift cams, but would they work to end the problem I'm having with Fords screwed up design?

Anyone have any input? I'd be interested.
