4.3 engine swap
i would like to know if i can put a 1998 4.3 vortec engine (vin# w) into a 1995 s10 4x4 that currently has a 4.3 ( vin# z) "TBI" ? If i can't what can i do for more power for my tbi 4.3 engine that i already haven't done? i installed a K&N air filter, phenolic throttle body spacer, msd ignition coil, taylor wires and NGK plugs.

.
It would most likely bolt right up with little problem but why bother you're not getting that much more power for the price you're going to pay for the motor. I wouldn't doubt there are headers available for your engine, and probably a camshaft or two. Like I recommend to all people here asking, go to www.s10forum.com, register, and ask these questions. People over there have all years of S-10s and Blazers and someone can help you better at that forum then any of us could here.

The price of the engine wiring harness should be enough to scare you away from it. The Z is a TBI where the W is multi port injection.
Yes they will bolt right up but there really is no significant power difference between them. If you still want to do it... get a donor vehicle and swap the engine wiring harness and the ECM with the prom. |
