I have a 05 xlt sport I believe. My mother-in-law gave us this car. So I did not test drive it or anything. I took it to work the other day and noticed when I go over a bump I hear clunking coming from the front end. Also when I'm parked and turn the steering wheel, I hear a clunking noise too. It doesn't clunk when I'm driving and turning the steering wheel. Any suggestions or ideas will be nice. Thanks.

Re: 05 making clunking sounds
A few. Bad ball joint. Broken sway bar link. Sway bar rubber mounts worn or missing. Broken spring. Worn out CV joint. Bad wheel bearing. Had them all and all made a clunk of one type or another.

Re: 05 making clunking sounds
the clunking sound could be a brake GRUNT when it comes to a slow stop. Lemon Aid guide details it. Changing the brake pads would solve it. Parts Globally sourced (aka cheap), but assembled with pride in Kansas.

ujoint. when driving, you hear a audible clunking?
if breaking, almost stopped, its the front disk brake pads. |
