1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28 (MPC ERTL) - The Worst Nightmare

Hi guys,

I've started building 3rd gen Camaro like a present for my friend, who is dreaming about such Chevy, although he is driving KIA

The box and its contents:

As you see, although there are a lot of parts, their quality is pretty average and even poor... Flash is everywhere, and one tyre isn't moulded fully. The rear lights are entirely read, although on original car they are 3-colourful.

I've started build from the engine - the big Chevy heart of this Camaro. Although in instructions manual it's written that the engine and gearbox should be painted in orange, as in 80's they weren't painted in orange already. I've found some photos of the engine bay and will share them with you in the next posts.

Also I would like to share the instructions manual as I couldn't find one in the Internet:

By the way, the chrome in this kit is pretty bad - I've cleaned it off from the parts.

Painted the enginge and gearbox with Tamiya XF-16. I haven't yet add some toning effects on the engine.

Cool! I'll be watching...I used to have an '84 Z-28 in black (1:1). I have a Revell model of an '85 which I'm going to build like the one I had...

350 cubic inches Chevrolet L98 engine is ready for installation:

http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/firun/view/417391/
I will add wires after installation into the engine bay.

Also I've cut out the trunk lid and the driver's door:

The next part for cutting is the passenger's door.

The kit lacks the window wipers, but I've prepared HobbyDesign ones for further work.

Re: 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28 (MPC ERTL) - The Worst Nightmare

I've finished her. During last month I was really tired of Camaro, and therefore I didn't implement all the ideas which were on first stages of building. E.g. the trunk lid is closed and not functional, although everything was ready including hinges.
The doors and hood are fully functional btw.

great work! your skill really made the kit look cool even with all the defects.

just a question, how did you do the door hinges?
