Battery charge issue
Hi,
This question is for my dad regarding his truck. He has a 2000 Silverado 1500 and has been having charging issues. He says that when he goes to start in the morning voltage guage shows approx 14 V but then as he is driving along it kreeps up to like 17V as if it's charging the battery for no reason since it was already at like 14V. Is this indicating any issues? I guess he's wondering why the system is charging the battery with a 17V load when it's already at like 14V in the first place... Thanks for any info on this. Robby |

Re: Battery charge issue
Quote:
Always put a volt meter on battery for propervoltage test. Charging voltage should read around 14.4 -14.5 Engine off battery voltage should be 13.2

before replacing have battery load tested. have battery fully charged. removal of alternator is easy just remove battery ground first ...then bring to the auto store for bench test. this will confirm whats up ! |
