96 Starting/Battery/Charging Issue

Hey all. I have a 96 Sable LS. Few weeks ago the car started getting on the harder side to start, took a little longer to crank then normal. Then one day, dead, no juice to crank or anything. Jumped the car, was fine till I got home, turned it off, no crank. Jumped the next morning, replaced the battery, was fine for 1.5 weeks, left for this past weekend and took a friends vehicle. Came back to find, a dead car. Wondering if anyone knows whats up?

My thoughts are alternator or a drain somewhere. Looked at the position of the alternator, and doesnt look like something I want to tackle in the parking lot here. (Cant be nice and simple like my Corvette.) Any ideas on if the alternator can be checked on vehicle, or what it involves to remove it?

HELP I need my car! Only reasonable transportation I have, motorcycle and race cars arent practical for daily use for me...
