Fuel tank
I replaced the fuel tank on my 91 SSE and now the SES light comes on after you drive for 10 minutes. When you park for a time and restart the car the light is off .It comes back on again after 10 minutes. When replacing the tank I did find part of the EVAP line from the tank to the canaster rusted thru and replaced it.The gas cap appears to be OK. The engine runs fine no problems starting or accelerating . Where should I look?

Re: Fuel tank
This is not an OBD II vehicle, so you are not going to see evap codes.....ground "A" to"B" in the ALDL connector, turn key to "on", and count the flash codes, to find out what code is turning the SEE light on.......

Thanks for the info ,the codes had nothing to do with the fuel tank. Got two codes 13 and 14. I beleive they are for O2 sensor and coolant temp. It might be the temp sensor as the engine did not get hot. Checking it out today. Thanks again for pointing to the right direction.

So,if you have codes 13 & 14 can both of these be a problem. I think I can test the O2 sensor, the code says open? Is there more than one sensor on my car?
The car doesn't get hot so the temp sensor may be bad . Can one or the other cause both codes to come up? Hope I'm not being a pain! |

Re: Fuel tank
You are correct, in what each code represents.....
check the wiring to the O2 sensor, and also to the temp sensor.... Not sure if they share a common circuit(power/ground), where both would be affected... Was the light on BEFORE the tank was replaced? |
