Hey Oscar !!!!!

Oscar,
I told a friend of mine that I would change his plugs tomorrow on his 2002 Towncar. I'm thinking that it is similar to my 2000 Expedition, in that you have to pull the fuel rail to undo and lift the coils. I looked @ his this afternoon, and there appears to only be two little bitty nuts, one @ each end of the fuel rail, holding it down on the injectors. Isn't there an "O" ring on each injector, that seals into the molded cup hanging down from the rail ?
Need your insight before I muck up a buddies car...........

Well we did it. Pulled the fuel rail on the passenger side. It's just easier that way. Two little bolts. The driver's side looked much more involved, so we did not pull the rail. There is enough flex in the coil leads to get them off the plug and out from under the fuel rail. One trick is to pre -spray all the plug holes w/ silicone spray so the rubber plugs break loose from the cylinder head. This helps a bit, but about half of them separated from the coils. No big deal, as the wire coil came up w/ the ign coil, and we just reassembled them prior to installation. A good chance to clean them up a bit. Found 3 different spark plug numbers in the old girl, and replaced them w/ double platinum 104's, gapped @ .055". She runs fine now.

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry that I didn't see your thread before; I was out of town and with a crappy/limited conectivity. Anyway...

I'm glad you did it and glad that the problems with your EATC are gone too. Just for future reference here is a link that should help to anyone else needing to replace the plugs in his 98-02 TC.

I appreciate the fact that you wanted to ask me first, It makes me feel flattered .

Should you need anything else don't hesitate to contact me via PM or email.

Oscar.
