1995 Track Day Subaru Impreza
I have finally got round to altering the size of the wheels that I fitted to this Subaru model a few years ago. I was never very happy with them originally because they appeared to look far too wide.
I have reduced the width of the wheels and tyres and also lowered the suspension too which involved re-building all of it and inserting many pieces of wire to make the suspension adjustable! I am now much happier with the overall look! (was never that pleased with the paint finish either but I will live with that!) Please view the WIP Street thread here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=524664 for photographs of how it looked before the modifications. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nicely done! I actually think it looked good before, but you are correct it looks better now. Did you just trim the width of both wheels and tyres? And lowered suspension obviously, from the Hasegawa "Safari" setting? Wouldn't mind seeing a photo underneath, to gauge the thickness of the wheels/tyres - I have a few of these wheel sets that I want to put under the Hasegawa Impreza as well.
Cheers, Grant. |

Yes, I filed down the wheels and the tyres. I did them both at the same time with the tyres still on the wheels. I used 120grit wet and dry (silicone carbide) paper laid out on a flat surface and simply used a polishing motion with the wheel/tyre making sure I kept it flat and checked regularly to ensure it was the same width all round. In order to get the correct looking rounded edge on the tyre I simply rolled at an angle (fitted to the wheel to keep it firm) on the wet and dry paper whilst slowly moving it through 360 degrees and repeated the process until it looked ok. Cheers Darren I will add a photo of the underside soon.
