Hitch on 90 Civic Si
I need to put a 1 1/4" hitch receiver on my 1990 Civic Si Hatchback. It is for a bike rack, and the only hitches I can find anywhere are fixed tongue hitches, which don't work for a bike rack mount. Has anyone mounted a 1 1/4 hitch on a 88-91 hatchback? Custom jobs?
Thanks, Ryan |

Hi Ryan...I have not been able to find a receiver type hitch for 4g Civics. I have a trailer hitch (bolt-on to the frame) I bought for about $75. Hidden Hitch, Draw-Tight, U-haul are the most well known hitch manufacturers...one of them may have a receiver style hitch...1 1/4" is pretty big...that sounds like a class 3 hitch...You will only find a Class 1 hitch avail. for a small car...see if you can find a different style rack..
![]() This shot was taken of damage from getting hit, but you can see the hitch under the tag -

Shawn, Thanks, 1 1/4" is the standard car size hitch (Class II I believe) 2" Is typical of suvs and trucks. A Class 1 hitch with a fixed tongue is what you have, but that doesn't fit my intended custom rack.
