|
5th Gear Trouble
Cant get my Spyder to go into 5th gear unless i push in on the gas and the clutch at the same time, only 5th gear, when i let off the gas it pops back out of 5th gear and 5th gear only any ideas what could cause this ?

My 1st DSM popped out of 5th gear occasionally but unfortunately I never figured out what caused this. I was told at one time that there was a nut on the end of gear "spine" that would back off and cause this but IDK about 2Gs. Did you check the shift linkages to see if anything came apart?

Welcome to AF I'm thinking tranny synchros are normally the cause of the gears popping out.

...had a 85 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE and it would pop out of third. Tranny shop said it was the 3rd gear synchros going bad.

Synchros. Had 5th pop out on e-way about twice nearly everytime putting a 30min drive on her. Trans rebuilt, bad synchros.
