Thanks HotZ28 for the tip.....
In July 09 you recommended Goodyear Gatorback belt for smith1000 when he had a "chirping" problem with his serpentine belt. I tried it for my same type problem and it worked. This problem started after I replaced a blown a/c compressor with a Dorman Idler pulley. I think there must have been a slight mis-allignment of the pulleys that helped cause the "chirp". Thanks for the tip.

Re: Thanks HotZ28 for the tip.....
Thanks for the feedback, and good to here you had positive results. Metal pulleys tend to chirp more than plastic, especially if there is a slight misalignment. If you have any metal idler pulleys, I would suggest replacing them with plastic. This is the reason plastic was installed at the factory.

Re: Thanks HotZ28 for the tip.....
Actually, HotZ28, I had already replaced the spring-loaded idler pulley in an effort to solve the chirp problem. When I had the belt off I checked all the other pulleys, too. I never thot to replace the nearly new belt until I read your old post.
Of course, Gatorback belt solved it. |
