86 Mazda 323 w/FI died
Yesterday car started up normally. drove it for about 2 miles then it died suddenly (like you turned off the ignition).
Cranks ok. Timing light indicates no spark. Swapped Dist cap and rotor - no effect ignition coil continuity and resistance seems normal. I'm thinking that it might be the igniter, but not sure. I noted that Tach does still indicate when cranking engine. Is igniter the likely culprit or am I completely out to lunch? Thanks, |

i gather u have tested all the spark plug leads for spark?
is there power to the coil? fuses? does all the dash lights come on when the ignition is on and the engine stoped?

Solved
Thanks for the reply,
Problem was a shorted rotor. Yeah, the first replacement had a low resistence too. It's running great now. |
