chevy AC problems

  1. so i recharged my AC in my 1996 chevy k1500 where it should be but the compressor turns on about every 10 seconds but the air never gets cold and when the compressor turns on the guage goes way down to 10 and shuts off should i put more in ooooorrr is there sometihing wrong with the system??????

Sounds like the charge is very low or the orifice tube is completely stopped up. I would geuss low system charge first especially if the high pressure is also low.

find out how much to put in to the system...what was the high side pressure and what is the air temp at this high side pressure..

if you cannot read high side pressures you have no idea whats going on !

Was the system vacuumed off? Did you just stick another can of freon in it?

hey, sorry I haven't had time to reply i found out that i just needed to add another can of freon and sadly i discovered that it must have a leak in the system because a couple days later it doesnt work again. so ill have to get some that has the leak sealer in it thanks

No No on the leak sealer.
That stuff will seal it up for sure wher it will never work again.
Like stop up verything.
Gum up orfice tube and compressor and evaporator and condenser an what ever oil the system has in it.

Best to find the leak and fix it.

Get the stuff with the dye in it and get a black light and chase down the leak.

do not use any type of leak sealer >>>>
If you do this can damage your system and in most cases not stop the leak.

USE THE LEAK DETECTOR DYE TO FIND LEAK !

POST BACK WHAT YOU FOUND .
