cam shaft position switch bad

I shook the wires at the end of the cam shaft switch and the car started up so my question is. Is it as simple to just take that one off and put a new one on and every thing will be fine, or will i have to take it to the shop and have it checked for codes. Thanks

Re: cam shaft position switch bad

I'm not sure about year and engine size? The problem might be the wiring connector?

I agree with jdl. Check the wiring first. Sounds like a short.
