Blower Motor/Interior Vents

Greetings,

The blower motor and resistor on my 2000 GP had to be replaced. I did the work myself. Other then the awkward location it seemed pretty straight forward a job.

However I'm noticing now that when I turn the fan on I don't have much, in fact no air coming out through the upper vents. (the ones that are located above the radio)

Could I have done something wrong that is now restricting the air flow through these vents when I changed the blow motor?

Many thanks.

Pete.

2 quick checks. Check the HVAC/CTL fuse in the fuse block if you have manual HVAC. Check the DIC/HVAC fuse in the fuse block if you have automatic HVAC.

Re: Blower Motor/Interior Vents

Many thanks. I checked the fuses and they are all good. I recall reading something about a black hose that runs around in the engine compartment, I checked that and wiggled it around and viola.... I now have air blowing out the vents. With a humidex in the 40's here in Toronto, it's nice to have cool air blowing :-)

I'm wondering though. When I step on the accelerator pedal I briefly hear what sounds like water running. It only happens momentarily and sounds like it's from the firewall area? Does that sound indicative of anything?

Cheers,

Pete.

Re: Blower Motor/Interior Vents

sounds like the evaporator casing is full of water. check to see that the drain hose is'nt clogged(passenger firewall tube coming through engine side)carefully insert wire into tubing to unclog

Re: Blower Motor/Interior Vents

Usually if an evaporator drain is clogged, water will get on the inside floor of the car. If it is a gurgling or a quick swishing sound it could be a partially restricted heater core or a small amount of air in the system. You can attempt to flush the heater core by removing the hoses at the engine side clamps, with a cool engine. Coolant burns hurt! Remove the hoses at the clamps by belt tensioner, do not unbolt the fittings. (3.8L only), or remove clamps near EGR (3.1L) Put your water hose nozzle in one of the hoses and watch what comes out of the other hose. Then switch hoses. Keep switching back and forth until the water runs clear. Refill coolant and re-evaluate.

Re: Blower Motor/Interior Vents

Thank you both, inafodd and procaddytech.

I'm not getting any water inside on the floor. Based on the above replies sounds like the heater core? Will check both and do as per your suggestions.

Thank you both again. Incredible and fast replies.

Cheers,

Pete.
