Brake troubles 99 Burb

Wife was driving home on the highway and the brakes seemed to take longer to stop. She notice that the emergency brake light was coming on when she applied the brakes. She thinks she heard a clunk when she pulled into the highway.

Brake pedal feels soft.

Ideas?

the proper thing to do is remove all wheels and inspect..any questions post back whats going on.

brake light on I would also give the brake lines a very close inspection... worn pads/rotors/drums will increase stoping distance as will any leaks or contaminated fluid...this also could be calipers rusted.

I would check the rear brake line where it connects to the rear flex line.I recently found mine had rotted to the point where the brake light came on with a brake pedal application.

One of the shoes came lose where the shoe hold down spring connects to the dust cover. Still attached but the backing plate had come out of the hole in the dust cover. Had to replace the wheel adjuster as it was damaged when it came loose.
