Re: 2011 Honda Accord 3.5L Oil Change

Warm up engine
Lift/support vehicle
Remove oil cap
Check oil level
Remove drain plug
Remove oil filter
Install new oil filter
Install drain plug with new drain plug washer 29ft lb (I have never torqued a drain plug in 16 years)
Add oil 5w-20 4.5qts approx.
Start engine, let idle a minute, make sure no leaks
Shut off engine
Check oil level, add as necessary(it's easier to add than drain)
Check tire pressures, air filter, other fluids

Isn't the oil type supposed to be 0w20?

I like to pre-fill my filters, if the mounting orientation allows for it. Even sideways mount I'll throw a little splash in there and let it soak into the media before spinning it on...helps oil pressure come up quicker when you start it after the oil change...

Good call, I do the same.

groovyforster what does the oil cap say? If it's 0w-20 then put in 0w-20. I haven't had a '11 V6 in yet. I know in '10 they switched to 0w-20 in some of the 4cyl's besides hybrids.

Another thing, put as small amount of oil on the new oil filter gasket.
