Homemade Deep Dish Rims...How-To (pics inside)
Well, when I looked at the rims that came with my Initial D FC3S, they were, of course, typical Fujimi quality. They were not the style I was looking for either. I wanted a set of deep dish rims on this FC. Since the Veilside Andrew Dish's are going on my other FC, I couldn't use them. So I pondered the situation a bit and found a logical solution. I will take the dish off another set of rims and place it on top of the ugly, undetailed, Fujimi quality crap wheels.
The first thing I did was sand down the small little lip on the edge of the original wheels. You will notice it in this pic: ![]() To sand, I layed a fine piece of sandpaper on a flat surface, put the wheel on it so the lip was facing down, and started moving therim in a circular motion. You don't want to go to far, so stop just when the tiny outer edge lip disappears. Here is an after pic: ![]() Here is the lip I am going to use. I got it from a set of "lowrider" style rims off the Aoshima Accord Wagon Lowrider. You need to sand this just a bit to make it lighn up with the rim. Here is a before (a tad blurry): ![]() Here is the after (after sanding) underneath shot of the lip: ![]() Next you can paint each part individually if you'd like, then put them together. The only thing you need to do (and i still need to) is cut off the remaining part of the original rim that is sticking out off the tire. Here are some final shots: Not Painted: ![]() Painted: ![]() ![]()

No, same size tires, just gotta cut the excess rim that hangs off the tire.

Interesting idea...
...but, it would mean having 2 sets of wheels to make the one. Couldn't you use the excess bit you cut off (from the rear) as the lip??

He got the "dish" off of Parts Box rims... extra cost = an ugly set of extra rims... ie $0.02 If you don't want to spend the 2 cents, so to speak, I'm sure you can find an alternative (as people are saying... bottle cap, etc). End rant. Good tutorial on how to make high offset rims deep dish!!! Thanks!

Re: Homemade Deep Dish Rims...How-To (pics inside)
here is a wonderful, and simple way to make a lip.
find a rim that has the lip you like, press it into some clay and carefully remove it, fill the resulting "mold" with epoxy, rinse and repeat....endless supply of lips....not unlike alot of you jokers!!! DOH! hahaha edit: oh, yeah, and this is a great write up, though the pics are a bit fuzzy it gets the point across very well. I think I'll go make some rims. and taking the back of the rim to make a lip is a rather good idea, I had never thought of that!
