2000 Taurus se Wagon
was running, turn off engine went into house came out would not start, after spraying starting fluid in breather housing started up drove home, next day would not start sprayed starting fluid again in breather housing it starts and runs you can shutoff and restart after sitting all night you have to repeat process please help?

I'd suggest you start by performing a tune, and make sure the tune up includes a fuel filter. Ideally, you'll want to buy/borrow a fuel pressure gauge and test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail before changing the fuel filter and afterwards. If the fuel pressure is still low afterwards (or you still need to add some spray to get it started), you're probably dealing with a fuel pump that is failing.

Using a fuel pressure gauge though to see if the fuel pressure drops quickly after turning the engine off would help you determine if the likely issue fuel pressure, and if so, if it's related to fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, or fuel pump. Without understanding that, you could find yourself replacing parts that are not actually bad.

Does the engine run smoothly and have plenty of power once you get it started?
