Pre-ordering a new Camry in a different color?

If I was going to buy a brand new Toyota Camry, and I wanted it to be orange, could I pre-order it for it to be painted orange? According to the website, it doesn't come in that color, but I know you can pre-order a vehicle to be a standard-shift, etc. so I was wondering if this can be done when it comes to colors as well?

I don't really want an orange Camry (twas just a hypothetical question), but I would like to have a bright red one (radiant red as the Toyota website calls it). But the color selection only includes some kind of darker red color (barclona red or something like that). The radiant red color is optional for the Tundra, but not the Camry.

I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell of getting Toyota to paint a car a color not offered for that vehicle, but there is no harm in trying. I would try talking to Toyota directly and see if you can get a sympathetic ear....

Cars are painted during the manufacturing process. The shell and body panels go through a very complex process of dipping, spraying, heating and drying all on a production line.
To paint one car, in a different, non standard colour would meaning stopping that production line. I'm pretty sure Toyota are not going to do that with out a very good monetary incentive. It would be several times more than the car is worth.


There are other options though.
There is no reason you can't take the new car to a painter and get it stripped and painted any colour you like.

Or, the latest trend is to do a vinyl wrap in the colour of your choice. This has the advantage of not damaging the paint underneath, so if you plan on selling the car in a few years the new colour doesn't effect its resale value.
