steering column swap, 02 cavilier

I am swaping the steering column in my daughters 02 Caviler. I have everything disconnected except this cable. I havent found out how to remove it without destroying it. The first pic is towards the steering wheel. The other is under the column towards the floor. All help is appreciated. Thanks

If that is a linear shift cable, you push in on the retainer while you pull out on the cable. That is the only cable my database mentioned?

I have no idea what the cable is for. Her car has a console shift and tilt wheel. I am not up to date wigh late model cars and her book shows nothing for the steering column. I have pushed and pulled and gotten no where. Thanks anyway.

Follow the cable, where does it lead? Call your local dealership, ask for the service department. Talk to them. Sometimes they are very helpful.
