Smile 1996 Chev 1500 K 350CID Cruise Control Part

Under the hood there is a small control box which houses a gear for the cruise control. First I need to know the name of the part?
Then where I can find a replacement?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.,

It's called the "cruise control module". Get one from a wrecking yard, local auto parts store or http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

Caprice is still the best. Used it alot March through June. I did get a Radiator tank from GMparts.com new for 68 bucks. Has 150K miles on it. Just breaking in. One think I noted was do not use any grease on the hood latch when living or driving on dirt roads. It won't release. Sticks. I took the whole thing off soaked it in parts cleaner and cleaned it well. Just used graphite. Also attached a piece of baling wire to the latch and ran it down through the release hole as a safety if the cable breaks or sticks again.
How long were you in AZ? The fires here kept us pretty busy as I have had evacuated friends and animals here until they could get back home.
Thanks for the contact.
Pete

that graphite does work good on lubricating things ..I add some to my oil can and lubing the door hinges and the other things around here ..

I was there for a week.. the temps/weather was perfect..no smoke in my traveling around scottsdale..On the news the fires were rAging to the east and southeast of our location ...winds were blowing from the west...sky was deep blue...

when things get tough you have to help the friends relatives .. could be some rain will come soon...that may reduce these fires somewhat. takecare..
