2003 Grand Am Door Switch

I'm having an issue with my car not knowing when the drivers door is open or closed.

When the drivers door is open, all the interior lights are suppose to stay on and if you press the "lock" button from the remote, it locks but doesn't honk.

Well, lately the interior lights dim shortly after I open the drivers door, and if I press the "lock" button from the remote, the doors lock and the horn honks. This only happens with the drivers door. I'm thinking it's the switch somewhere in the door, perhaps a spring-loaded switch.

Before I start ripping my door panel off, is that where I'm suppose to start looking?

Thanks!

Re: 2003 Grand Am Door Switch

the switch is in the thing that hold the door closed... It might be dirty, greasy, rusty or just worn out...
