'01 Grand Am Door Switch

I have a 2001 Grand Am GT. I have a problems with the interior dome lights staying on after I have left the car (without them shutting off over a period of time). The lights will stay on until I place the car in drive and drive off, then when I come to a stop they will come on again. At times when I hit the "lock" on the remote, the doors will lock, but no beep from the horn. Also, at times when I am driving, the doors will continually lock.

I tried changing out the relays, but no luck. So I am thinking that it is the door switch.

So here is my question, (1) is the switch located inside the car door?
(2) Do I need to take the window out to replace the switch?
(3) Any idea as to which door could have the bad switch?

Thanks!

Re: '01 Grand Am Door Switch

From what you are describing it sounds like you have a few problems. To answer your questions. If you are refering to the switch the tells the car that the door is closed/open, those are located on the door jam, so there is no need to even work with the door. you can visually inspect each one and see if one looks broken, as well as press it in and out and see if you get some type of results. Hope this helps.

Re: '01 Grand Am Door Switch

With the two door, I see no switch on any part of the door jam. I also took apart the door panel and could find nothing that looked like a simple switch.
