2001 Gs 2.4, Cam position sensor issue.

I replaced the timing belt on my 01 eclipse, it runs great for a couple days then it starts throwing the cam position code and shutting off again. I rechecked the timing marks, all are still perfectely in time. Is it common for the the cam position sensor to go bad? Or is there anything else I may be overlooking? The car is running great while running so I am hoping its the sensor going bad. Thank you all in adavnce.
