Transmission Question
Hi I have a 1993 K2500 and the trans went out on it. I want to just put a used transmission in it. Through doing some research it looks like its the 4l60 and it was only the same from 93 to 94 so does that mean I can only use one from a 93 or a 94?

Re: Transmission Question
If you have the 305 (not likely in a 2500) or 350 V8, then it's probably the 4L60-E...the trannys went electronic in 1993. If it's the 454 or diesel, then likely the 4L80-E.
The 4L60-E came in two versions, one-piece and two-piece housings where the bell and body are either separate or single piece.

Re: Transmission Question
Check you RPO code placard in your glovebox. RPO M30 would be 4L60 and RPO MT1 a 4L80. Also, make sure you get one for a 4WD truck. The output shafts and extension housings are different between 2WD and 4WD. Also, 4L60 pan has 16 bolts, 4L80 pan has 17 bolts.
